General Scanner Settings Setting

Optimal Scanner Setting for CatalogVX

Scanner manufactures make different scanners for different personal and business use.

The PAC application requires that the scanner have the following capabilities:

1) Legal Scanning Area 11x14 (recommended for offices that use legal documents).

2) TWAIN or ScanWizard 5® compatible.

3) 300 DPI Scanning Option.

4) Black and White Scanning Option.

5) Automatic Document Feeder (ADF).

If the scanner can not support all of the above, it will not work effectively with CatalogVX .

Most personal scanners used for the home office are not business scanners and will not have an

11x14 scanning area for legal scanning or an Automatic Document Feeder attached to the scanner.

PAC will work with the flat bed scanners but it is not recommended because the user

will have to feed in one page at a time.  In Addition, it is impossible to

scan Legal Documents (11x14) effectively.

Fortunately, all true business scanners will support the above requirements.

If you are using this product for a small business office, it is extremely recommended that you invest

in a business scanner  (Visit the Chronicles Systems web site)

Some manufactures have created the all-in-one scanner or a multi-purpose copier that includes a Photocopier,

Fax, and the ability to scan to a computer.  If you have this type of scanner in your office and it has an ADF or a similar

device attach to the photocopier, you should be able to use the all-in-one scanner with PAC as long as this

scanner is able to scan legal documents.   In addition, you can scan a group of documents

into one of the directories on your computer and use the CatalogVX business scanner feature to load all the

documents into the categories
